From Wednesday on, the local government of Beijing will ban high-emission vehicles from the city in order to fight the severe air pollution. China is considering stricter new measures to restrain industrial activities in the surrounding area of Beijing. This measures include the prohibition of gasoline vehicles to enter the city’s main districts on weekdays that do not meet the Chinese Emission Standard III. Drivers will be fined. Moreover, all light vehicles have to meet the “China VI” emission standards by 2020. These standards are based on European and U.S. regulations. All new cars in Beijing have to comply with this standard from this year on.
