The UK government plans to implement new insurance rules to ensure that victims of accidents with self-driving cars are compensated quickly, as it wants to encourage the development and testing of self-driving technology. The new industry could be worth about 1,1 trillion USD worldwide by 2025. The insurance issue is a major obstacle for the autonomous car industry. According to the British transport minister, Chris Grayling, ensuring the protection of the public in terms of an incident is the major priority. The ministry will introduce a framework to allow insurance for the new technology.
