The Brookings Institution published a report “Redefining Global Cities” that ranks metropolitan areas according to their GDP per capita and that provides a great amount of data on cities worldwide. San Jose (USA), the centre of Silicon Valley, is leading the list of 2015, followed by Singapore and Hartford (USA). Worth noting is the fact that the most affluent areas are at the same featuring a low population density. The report further shows data on economic growth, innovation, infrastructure connectivity and tradable clusters.
