Researchers at the University of Surrey developed a new material that could be used to create supercapacitors 1,000 to 10,000 times more powerful than common batteries. This is made possible because of a special type of polymer that is adapted from manufacturing of soft contact lenses. This new technology could make electric cars competitive with conventional vehicles because e-cars could be charged within minutes which would not take longer than filling up a car with gasoline. Technical devices could be charged within seconds.
