Barack Obama’s administration has doubled an initial 500 million USD commitment to the Green Climate Fund three days before the administration will not be in office anymore. The fund helps developing countries to fight climate change, adapt to its consequences, reduce carbon emissions, promote clean energy and foster private investments in the field. In 2014 Obama promised a total of 3 billion USD to the fund but it is questionable if the amount will be paid after Trump being elected as President.
