Researchers at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Germany have developed a software called TrussFab that lets you use plastic bottles as building blocks for a huge variety of structures. The eco-friendly system encourages recycling allowing users to design the desired objects, and then working out the distribution of bottles to a very robust structure.

The team is planning to make TrussFab available some time during the next few weeks for free.
