State owned Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), which is reponsible for power transmission infrastructure development announced that it has secured an agreement for $500 million in debt funding from the Asian Development Bank for the dedicated transmission line set for the renewable energy projects. This dedicated tranmission line will run from Rajasthan, the north western state with the highest concetration of wind and solar power projects to the northern agricultural states of Haryana and Punjab. A substantial amount from this funding is expected to be utilized for the direct generated power transmission from the renewable energy projects. $1 billion had also been announced by the German KfW bank.
