After the success of 750 megawatts of solar power capacity, Indian Railways is looking to follow this model to ensure a cheap and sustainable power supply. The government of Madhya Pradesh has received a proposal to set up a mega solar park with around 800 MW capacity. The project is expected to be installed near Rewa solar park. The previously installed Rewa solar park will supply 24% of its generated electricity to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The Indian Railways can source about 25% of its energy needs from renewable energy sources by 2025 from its ambitious plan of setting up a 5 gigawatts solar power capacity across the country.
