Low-cost sensors have been installed at remote power lines by NV Energy in the US. They will help to improve maintance and avoid outage by sending alerts in real-time when there is any problem. The communication is enabled over the power flow and the installation will make maintenance easier, more cost-efficient and better for the environment as employees are less required to drive to power lines.
