Security researchers have created an experimental IoT worm that can autonomously spread to nearby compatible smart devices. In a smart city attackers can disturb WiFi connections and electric grids or brick devices making systems inoperable. So far the worm has attacked smart lamps in buildings as well as intelligent street lighting. In the worst case entire cities can be shut down.
