A wooden soccer stadium: Is it possible?

Arenas of public events are trademarks typical for cities and are often reflecting socio-economic conditions of the time. The British non-league soccer club Forest Green Rovers hold a design competition for its new soccer stadium that will be as sustainable as possible reflecting current efforts to encounter climate change. The selected proposal for its 5,000-seat stadium comes from Zaha Hadid Architects. It will be the central construction of the new Eco Park in Gloucestershire, England and the world’s first to be constructed almost entirely from wood. The plan also includes the remaking of the surroundings of the stadium with the goal that the park becomes carbon-neutral.
