The global energy consumption of buildings is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and a topic at COP22 in Marrakech. More than 80 countries have therefore taken on efforts to reduce the negative environmental impact of buildings. A new report has been released by the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (Global ABC) that gathered the potentials and measures that have already been taken. The efforts of the cities of Da Nang (Vietnam), Eskisehir (Turkey), Belgrade (Serbia) and Tshwane (South Africa) are especially outstanding and therefore highlighted. The report provides a roadmap for governments which attend COP22 to cut greenhouse gas emisssions.
