Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a mix of technologies that strip carbon dioxide from various industrial processes such as steel manufacturing or coal burning and then pipe it beneath the ground. The streams of carbon dioxide can be used to push more oil out of the earth and thus improve the economic value of the entire process. The CCS technology is widely believed to be essential for tackling climate change. Firstly takes the climate bite out of coal and secondly it can strip carbon from many industrial processes like the ethanol, cement and steel production. This aspect plays into Trumps hands since he wants to strongly support and promote the fossil fuel industry.
