Cash machines are increasingly threatened by cyber attacks. The numbers of ATMs attacked at a stride has previously been limited as physical access was necessary. Recent attacks have been organized from remote control centres allowing to enlarge the number of ATMs. Hacks on bank networks seem more profitable for criminals than larcencies of card numbers and online banking credentials. Experts assume that the hacks might be linked and could be led back to a single network of cyber criminals.
