US-based researchers are developing robots based on the principles of cockroaches. To be precise, they transfer the multi-purpose of the wings of the cockroaches to allow robots to get into the right position when they got upside-down. Compared to previous methods of righting robots, the wings-based approach brings along other benefits and usages. The wings are not just for the purpose of bringing the robot back into its original shape, but can protect the robot from obstacles as it is the case for a real cockroach too.
