In a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the AI division of Google, the more precise lip-reading software has been developed. The developing process included thousands of hours of TV footage from the BBC. In this process the neural network was trained. The new technology could be used to support hearing-impaired people or to annotate silent films. Further fields of application are digital assistants such as Siri or Alexa. On the other side it could be developed further for surveillance with CCTV cameras.
