On Friday night San Francisco’s Transit System “Muni” was attacked from a hacker using ransomware and trying to receive $73,000 in ransom to unlock the agency’s computer systems. Muni refused to pay and shut down the ticket machines, threw open the fare gates and contacted the Department of Homeland Security and their technology division instead. On Sunday morning the fare gates and ticket machines were up and running. On Monday most systems worked again.
