While it is rather well-known that the US middle class is shrinking, a map by Esri adds a geographic dimension to the phenomenon. Data from state and federal governments have been gathered from five US cities and put together on a map to illustrate income gaps between neighborhoods. Wealth Divides, as the project is labelled, demonstrates how close rich and poor people are sometimes living next to each other and how gentrification is expanding.
