Paris’s Mayor Anne Hidalgo wants to halve the number of private cars on roads in the city to reduce pollution. Moreover, she plans a new electric tram, increased bicycle lanes on busy roads and pedestrianisation of central areas. After severe pollution problems and smog over the city arguments pro closing roads and reduce traffic are increasingly emerging. Whereas drivers’ organisations were furious and complained that lengthy traffic jams caused by the closure were increasing pollution.
