Smart City in Denver will start construction this year

This year Denver’s 400 acre smart city collaboration Peña Station NEXT will be put into practice. Driverless electric shuttles will begin running in the first quarter of 2017. Smart LED streetlights were installed that automatically dim and bright based on ambient light. Peña Station NEXT will also improve the resident’s lives by offering housing near the Peña Boulevard rail station that opened last spring. The project is still not finnished yet. The future city is modeled after Fujisawa, a Panasonic smart city about a half an hour outside Tokyo. Compared to Fujisawa, in Peña Station Next apartments and townhomes will be mixed with shops, restaurants, retail stores, an entertainment district and a health and wellness center.
