The London Taxi Company is going to launch a new black cab with a range-extending hybrid powertrain at the end of the year. The new cab is called “TX5” and it is completely redesigned from the ground up. It includes a new platform architecture and a state-of-the-art plug-in powertrain. The three-cylinder petrol engine is a generator for a large battery pack and electric motors. The electric motor has a range of over 70 miles. The cab has six passenger seats and is wheelchair compatible.
