As part of the plan to make all vehicles fossil-free by 2030 in Sweden, Stockholm tests a new way of running hybrid-electric buses. In one of the city’s suburbs hybrid-electric buses are charged while they are stopping at the last stop on their routes. When the last passenger gets off the bus stays a few minutes. Under the pavement there is a wireless charger that recharges the bus then which takes six to seven minutes. A full charge is enough for the bus to run its entire route. There are other ways to charge a bus like overhead wires or plug-in charging stations but due to aesthetic reasons the charging station is in the ground.
