The Trump administration is considering closing down the enforcement division of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA). The Office of Enforcement & Compliance Assurance (OECA) should be closed and instead individual program offices (the air or water program) should handle the enforcement. Closing the enforcement division means that less enforcement which effects the core environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Wate Act. The OECA is an independent body with about 3,000 employees.
