There is a common fear among societies all over the world that robots and automation will cost a lot of jobs. That is why Bill Gates demands a tax for robots which would offset job losses by funding training for positions where humans are still needed. A tax could even slow automation and make it more manageable. Gates sticks to its idea even though he knows that a tax could also slow innovation because working robots become extremely expensive. The European Parliament disagrees to such a robot tax, instead it aims at crafting regulation that guides ethical aspects behind creating and deploying robots.
