In an attempt to get new insights into gravity and dark matter, NASA is planning to create a coolest spot in Universe by freezing gas atoms which will be done by sending an ice chest-sized box to the International Space Station (ISS). The box contains a vacuum chamber, lasers and an electromagnetic ‘knife’ which will be used to cancel out the energy of gas particles and will slow them until they’re almost motionless. The suite of instruments, Cold Atom Laboratory (CAL) is developed by NASA’s JPL and will ride to space aboard SpaceX CRS-12.
