Pavegen, a UK based clean energy startup aims to redefine sustainability in the built environment, by employing a state of the art flooring technology that generates electricity on one hand and captures data on other with a vision to develop data drivem smart cities and increase the mix of renewable sources in the energy mix. The technology works with a weight of an individual stepping on a tile which in turn causes an electro-magnetic induction which further results in electricity generation. It also has a capability to connect multiple mobile devices and building management systems.
