AutoX, a silicon valley based startup, formed by Dr. Jianxiong Xiao, a professor of computer vision at Princeton, became the newest contender in the self driving technology sector. While most of the giants are working towards using Lidar and RADAR or GPS, AutoX uses simple cameras thereby reducing the cost drastically, since cameras are much cheaper than radar antennas or lidar sensors. With the help only a few $50 cameras, the AutoX team developed their prototype with some very promising outcomes and they have recently obtained the self driving test- permit from the California DMV.
