L’Oréal, the largest company in the cosmetics industry, is taking active action to fight climate change and become more sustainable in its practices. From 2005 until 2016, they reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by 67 percent. In 2013, they launched Sharing Beauty With All, an initiative to become sustainable branches of the business. With employee training programs, collaborations with sustainable suppliers of products all over the world, and the approach of every stage of the supply chain, L’Oréal wants to become carbon balanced and make all their cosmetics from renewable plant sources by 2020.

They also partnered up with Women4Climate to make women of the next generation more conscious of their carbon footprint, and linked manager bonuses to the success in their sustainability endeavors. Later this year, L’Oréal will introduce the Sustainable Product Documentation Tool to make practices in the supply chain for their products transparent to the consumer.
