Aggregated demand for clean energy presents opportunities

Summit Farms Solar, the largest renewable energy facility in the States with 60 megawatts, started commercial operation. Buyers Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston Medical Center, and Post Office Square Redevelopment Corporation aggregated their demand for the project, and thus opened up access to economies of scale to smaller companies such as Post Office Square. This innovative approach could be a way to let enterprises of all sizes in on inexpensive renewable energy. Partner companies can support each other, and, for example, split legal fees that do not scale down with less ambitious projects.

A Better City initiated the process and CustomerFirst Renewables (CFR) advised the three companies for their separate power purchase agreements.
