With a strong financial backing of aviation giants Boeing and JetBlue Technology Ventures, Zunum Aero is aiming to reinvent the aviation industry with densely traveled regional routes in mind. The company aims at reducing the travel fares by 40 to 80 percent because of lower operating costs. Zunum is planning to build several models of hybrid-electric propulsion jets, with the debut aircraft in the range of 10-15 foot, with a capacity of 10 passengers and a range of up tp 700 miles on a single charge. “We’re entering the golden era where we’ll have high-speed links to every community on the backs of quiet, sustainable hybrid-electric technology,” Kumar said. “And that’s going to happen really fast,” Zunum CEO, Ashish Kumar said.
