One of the world’s largest automaker Ford Motor’s head of research, Ken Washington believes that the general consumers will not be able to get their hands on fully autonomous vehicles until sometime between 2026 and 2031. Ford itself, is developing a Level 4 autonomous vehicle to use in a ride-sharing service in 2021 and it his unlikely that the consumer sales will be there until five to ten years after the first implementation. Stressing that self-driving cars will be a reality Washington said, “This is not science fiction, this is not a research project. This is something we’re going to make happen, and others will, too.”
