Mercedes-Benz – one step closer to autonomy

With the introduction of Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist in the new S-class, beginning this autumn, Mercedes-Benz, has moved one step closer towards the autonomous driving goals. Michael Hafner, Head of Automated Driving and Active Safety at Mercedes-Benz said, ” We are approaching the goal of automated driving more purposefully and faster than many people suspect. From the autumn, the new S‑Class will be able to support its driver considerably better than all systems which have been available to date.” The new models will be equipped with enhanced radar and camera systems. Some of the new features and functions in the S-class include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Following vehicles in a tailback, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Car-to-X Communication, Active Parking Assist, and Remote Parking Assist.
