UK clean tech developer Solar Street Lighting has announced the start of a £3.5bn funding campaign to help councils, government bodies and established companies to implement smart street lighting powered only by renewable energy. The LED lights are operating on energy generated by solar panels and wind turbines. The lighting system is supposed to reduce carbon emissions considerably and energy costs by 80 percent for the businesses. Once the funding is paid back to Solar Street Lighting, the recipients will benefit fully from the savings.
