In a first, Ford is all set to introduce Ford Police Responder Hybrid Sedan, the industry’s first pursuit-rated hybrid police car. The unique features of a pursuit police car include specially designed vehicle dynamics along with various crash testings and maneuverability of the vehicle at intersections and curbs. With this technology, Ford aims at saving the fuel during driving and while idling. Ford’s technology is projected to provide EPA- estimated gas mileage of up to 38mpg. On the other hand, while idling, the engine is estimated to save around 0.27 gallons of fuel in an hour. This car uses the efficient Atkinson-cycle 2.0 litre engine, calibrated for law enforcement’s unique duty cycle.
