E.ON supports development of drone-powered wind energy system

Major European public utilitiy E.ON SE is investing in the development and potential construction of the 2 MW Airborne Wind Energy System (AWES) by Dutch company Ampyx Power. AWES is an innovative wind energy system that works with offshore tethered drones. In hopes to drive down cost for renewable energy, E.ON will be the first user of the system at a test site in County Mayo, Ireland.
