A traffic system called Flo has been installed in Utrecht last week, and has already made a lot of fans. The device determines the speed of cyclists from a distance using sensors, and then shows them how to adjust their pace to catch the next green light using animal symbols.

A hare is for speeding up, a turtle to slow down, for example. The idea originated from questioning cyclists whose main concern while going through the city was consistent flow, hence the name. Flo works with a dynamic light system, and thus can give people on bikes more green traffic lights.

Eindhoven and Antwerp are next to implement the system.
