ABB secured a contract to provide the fast chargers that will be used for 8 fully electric Volvo buses in Harrogate, England. The project is the first to utilize the OppCharge standard with ABB’s 3 HVC 300P modular charging stations that will be integrated into the bus routes. With opportunity charging, the size of bus batteries can be decreased, which in turn lowers the weight and saves money, thus increasing efficiency.
The buses also create less noise, create zero emissions at the point of use, and require less maintenance.
