During a public hearing in Sacramento, California, Automakers have asked the state to ease on the proposed regulations for autonomous vehicles and to leave much of the oversight to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A number of automakers are expected to launch their self-driving vehicles sometime by 202-21 and according to them, the proposed regulations go ‘too far’. Urging California “to provide manufacturers with the certainty that they need,” Ron Menford, director of safety at Waymo, was one of the many representing the automakers.
