After the massive success of its first-ever wind energy tender, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India is planning to launch a new tender of 4000 megawatts of wind energy capacity by March 2018. This capacity will be offered to the project developers in multiple phases by the Solar Energy Corporation of India. In order to reach the goal of 60 gigawatts by the March 2022, SECI will launch wind energy tenders every year until 2022, each with a 5,000-6,000 megawatt capacity. In the last couple of years, India has aggressively moved towards renewable energies, especially the wind and solar energies. According to the  Chairman of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), a record 6,000 megawatts of wind energy capacity is expected to be added in the financial year 2017-18,  which will be 11% higher than the 5,400 megawatt capacity added in 2016-17 — also a record.
