UK company MacRebur has specialized in the creation of high quality road asphalt made from recycled plastic waste. “What we’re able to do is to take this plastic that has been thrown away, and use a special formula to clean it off, create pellets using it, and then use those pellets to add to a mixture of rocks and bitumen to make longer-lasting roads,” Toby McCartney, founder of MacRebur, explains.
MacRebur asphalt is 60 percent tougher than regular asphalt, and can be modified to work even better for specific environments. The use of this innovative product saves everybody involved money. The company is now planning to carefully expand to other countries.
