Russia has begun with its biggest-ever auction for renewable energy yesterday. The country will award contracts to energy providers to purchase 1.9 gigawatts of clean electricity while also looking for foreign investment to support employees in Russia. Fortum Oyj of Finland has already expressed interest, and Enel SpA of Italy is in talks as well. The tender will last until June 9.
To accomodate for the switch to renewable energy, existing factories will be retooled to make turbines to turn the industry around.
