ACCIONA, Spain’s leading infrastructure and renewable energy company has recently announced the beginning of operations of its hybrid-grid connected wind project and battery storage in Spain. The project will combine the wind project with an energy storage system using two separate batteries. The project features a single 3 MW wind turbine with two batteries in separate storage containers. The batteries include a fast-response 1 MW/0.39MWh Li-ion Samsung battery that can maintain 1 MW of power for 20 minutes, and a slower-response 0.7 MW/0.7MWh battery that can maintain 0.7 MW for 1 hour. A simulation software will also be used in conjunction with the project.
