Toyota is now the second carmaker to launch a scrappage scheme to encourage drivers to trade in their most polluting cars for environmetally friendly models. The scheme allows car owners to receive up to £4,000 off a new Toyota car for vehicles more than seven years old. Toyota’s popular range of low-emission hybrids can be purchased this way as well.
“Our scrappage scheme is a win-win solution. Motorists can dispose of their older vehicles and have access to our cleaner, more efficient model range,” Paul Van der Burgh, Toyota GB president and managing director, said in a statement.
This is following a similar move by Ford earlier in August, and will run until December 31, being open to eligible cars for more than six months.
