In several cities around the world, people are protesting a lack of protection for cyclists. In New York, volunteers from the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives formed a human chain to provide the protection the city had promised originally, and did not deliver.
Bike lanes are often unprotected by physical barriers, and cities are now seeing how the public feels. Similar demonstrations to the one New York have now happened in San Francisco, Mexico City, Boise and Dublin in the last two months as well.
