AT&T, Ford, Nokia and Qualcomm have teamed up to trial C-V2X connected car technology in the US. Cellular-V2X helps the development of connected cars by expanding the role of wireless technology for road safety apllications. It facilitates the ability of vehicles tocommunicate with other vehicles, as well as pedestrian devices, and roadside infrastructure, such as traffic signs and construction zones, using the 5.9GHz band, without the involvement of a cellular network. Trials are to start in San Diego, California, also to help demonstrate the potential of C-V2X technologies, including support for improved automotive safety, automated driving, and traffic efficiency.
