At the COP23 in Bonn, momentum could be gathered for the fight against climate change. The summit created a clear path to the summit in Katowice, Poland in 2018, where countries will finalize their commitment to improve climate plans by 2020.
Good news were plentiful. For example, research presented by the WRI has found th 49 countries have already peaked their emissions. The Power Past Coal Alliance was formed, a coalition of countries to phase out coal by 2030. The biggest sovereign wealth fund in the world offered a proposal to divest from oil and gas holdings, and despite recent remarks by the Trump administration, many American businesses, cities and states endorsed climate action fully.
