Reykjavík announces aim to be carbon neutral by 2040

Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík, has announced its aim to become carbon neutral by 2040. While all of the city’s electricity demand is already met by hydropower and houses are geothermally heated, transport is the main source of greenhouse gas emissions and the largest challenge for the municipality.
