The nostalgia of Soviet era bus stops

In a seven-year project Peter Ortner, a photographer from Nuremberg, took photographs of bus stops from the Soviet era. He published them as part of a new book “Back in the USSR: Soviet Roadside Architecture from Samarkand to Yerevan”. The images capture that while the state executed power over individual aesthetics, some bus stops reveil a futuristic charm and some freedom in architecture.
