A car-free Christmas shopping in Madrid

For a period of nine days, the centre of the Spanish capital will be almost car-free. Buses, taxis and residents’ cars are still allowed to drive in the centre of Madrid though only at a speed of 30 km per hour. On the other side metro service has been increased to deal with higher demands for public transportation. The initiative is part of a greater project to reduce car traffic in Madrid.
