Zero Mass Water, a Arizona State University spin-off startup based in Scottsdale, has developed a localized clean water solution in form of a solar panel. Through a cycle of condensation and evaporation, the SOURCE device produces 2 to 5 liters of drinking water each day. SOURCE is a standalone system and requires close to no maintenance, only needing a new air filter once a year and a mineral cartridge every five years.
Another goal of the company is global water democratization, so when you buy one of their devices, you split the cost for a second one with Zero Mass Water, which is then installed in a community with limited access to clean water of your choice.
